Banchory 2nds 213 for 5 Stonehaven Thistle 2nds 94

Thistle 2nds slipped to their second defeat in this Grade 4 encounter at Burnett Park.
Given last week's fragile batting, Thistle skipper King inserted the opposition hoping to make some inroads with the strengthened bowling line up.Kampbell and Abbot made unspectacular progress against Thistles opening attack of King and Greig, but despite passing the bat several times and some lofted mis hits, nothing went to hand. Banchory made it to 43 without loss before Garden struck with a well taken catch by late replacement Duncan Campbell.Thistle tried an array of bowlers to break the Banchory advance, the pick of these being Calum Findlay who bowled a tidy spell, despite the home side looking to hit out.
Ken Campbell made a patient 71 before being smartly run out by Bruce Findlay behind the stumps.
Banchory closed on 213 for 5 after 42 overs.
Thistle's reply started well with B Findlay and Garden scoring freely. Findlay went for 18 with the score on 36 then a further 2 wickets fell on 44. Some resistance came from Steve Crozier who hit 14. King was given out after a very dubious  and confused piece of umpiring for 9, and there the resistance fell away. Thistle were all out for 94.
Thistle fielded 5 under 16's which is great for the future of the club, but in terms of physical batting stength, facing adult bowling, technique and experience are found out . Thistle's fielding was exemplary and it is only a matter of time as the 2nds improve before they win a match to get the season under
