Victoria CC, 280 for 8
Bon Accord CC, 282 for 6

Cricket fans were treated to a rare sight in Stonehaven on Sunday 2nd September at Mineralwell as Bon Accord Cricket Club played Victoria Cricket Club from Glasgow in a re-enactment of last years Scottish Small Clubs Cup Final.

On this occasion the stakes were friendly and Stonehaven was chosen to hold the event on the back of Bon accord’s visit the previous week when they scored a match-winning 271 against Stonehaven.

On a new pitch a thrilling contest ensued with Victoria hitting 280 for 8 off their 40 overs with some superb strokeplay all around the ground, off the front and back foot.

At the interval the players enjoyed a curry supplied by Malik.

In reply Bon Accord were 282 for 6 with 5 balls to spare. After a controlled knock of 73 from New Zealander Andy Win, it was N. Mirza (111 not out) who then put the Victoria bowling to the sword with some mighty hitting when Bon accord needed 80 off the final 9 overs to win.

Both teams thoroughly enjoyed their day out and were very complimentary of the facilities and Stonehaven pitch which had seen almost 600 runs scored on the day and was prepared by Stonehaven Thistle Cricket Club groundsman, Dave Long.
