The 7 a side competition is organised and run by club members and willing volunteers and has become an annual event, with steadily increasing attendance, year-on-year. Once known as "The Funday", things have moved on, and whether this is because the teams take it more seriously or the fun on the field eclipsed the other side shows we will probably never know.

Local teams of non-members compete, usually from various pubs and Clubs do battle throughout the day, culminating in the final that draws the attention of everybody. The onlookers are kept informed throughout by the MC, who between announcements plays some “dodgy" music.

The victorious "Marine"

In 2008 the winners were the Marine (from the Marine Hotel) who chased down the target of over 2 runs a ball set by their opponents.

The crowds enjoy the cricket, cake stalls, the burger bar, (selling delicious burgers by Stonehaven's own master butcher Charles McHardy), tombola, beer tent and various other activities in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
