Stonehaven Thistle 1st XI were away to Kintore for the start of the second half of the season, looking to get back to winning ways.
Thistle started the proceedings after Kintore won the toss and decided to bowl. Thistle started with A. Keith and A. Milroy but with the rain lashing down before the start of play the wicket was highly erratic and difficult to read, A.Keith was out first ball to Laird who did most of the damage with the ball along with Balsillie. Unfortunately this was to be the trend for the day.  A.Milroy and A.Hinchcliffe the only thistle batsmen to reach double figures.
M.Jenkins and A.Kemp showed some resolve using 10 overs between them but thistle were undone for a score of 43 all out off 28 overs.
A.Milroy and A.Hinchcliffe were top scores with 13 and 14 respectively.

After tea Thistle were faced with a difficult uphill task and with so little runs to play with, fielding and catches would have to be of the highest quality. With Kintore confidently striding to the wicket, C.Hinchcliffe opened with C.Van De Ruit at the other end, Van De Ruit taking a wicket in his first over. With the score on 0 for 1 off 2 Kintore soon realised that this was not going to be a walk in the park.
This theory was further backed up when after 14 overs Thistle had Kintore 17 for 6, A.Hinchliffe and C.Hinchcliffe doing the damage.
This brought Balsillie to the crease who, after being dropped on his 3rd ball, steadied the sinking Kintore ship and managed to bring them nearer to the winning post before being caught on 11.
With the score on 39 for 8 the game was in the balance but the Kintore number 10 scored the winning runs in the 22nd over in what proved to be a thoroughly dramatic game. A.Hinchcliffe and C.Hinchcliffe got the most out of the pitch, 3 for 12 and 2 for 18 respectively.

Thistle now hold fourth spot in the League but with a large gap to the top three, every game is a must win if they are to have any chance of being at the top. The match ball was sponsored by the Station Hotel.
